Awards
Awards are the season's honours — the bits of glory handed out at the end. Some are voted on by the league, some you decide as organizer, and one works itself out from the games played. A finalized award is announced with its winner for the whole league to see.
An award belongs to the player, not the season. A season's Awards page is what's still up for grabs there — the ballots. The moment an award is finalized it leaves that page and lands in the winner's trophy case on their profile, where it stays for good: every trophy they've ever won, in any league, in one place. The season's own roll of honour lives on in its yearbook.
Awards never touch standings, points, or seeding — they are honours only.
The four kinds
Decided automatically
Worked out from the sportsmanship ratings players leave after their games — the highest average wins. Nobody votes; just finalize it at the end.
Player vote
Each player tags up to three of their own gallery photos as best-painted entries (the "Best painting" checkbox on a photo). At finals everyone votes for a painter — not yourself, and only painters who tagged an entry are on the ballot. The most-voted painter wins.
Players choose
A custom award the league votes on — pick a player (not yourself). Most votes wins. Good for things like Best Opponent or Most Improved.
You choose
No vote — the organizer names the winner directly. For calls only you can make, like a wooden spoon or a spirit-of-the-league nod.
Say how it's won
Every award can carry a short description — a sentence or two explaining what earns it. Players read it under the award's name on the Awards page, and it stays with the award when it's finalized, so the trophy still says what the winner did. The two built-in awards come with theirs already written; for your own, add one when you create the award or hit add description on it later. Without one, players see nothing but a name.
How voting works
- You open it when you're ready. A voted award stays closed until the organizer opens it. Players only see Voting not open yet until then.
- One vote each, and you can change it. Everyone gets a single vote per award; cast it again to move it before voting closes.
- Votes are secret until the reveal. Nobody can see who voted for whom — not even the tally — until the award is finalized. The organizer is the only exception.
- No voting for yourself. You can't vote for your own photo or your own name.
Finalizing a winner
When you finalize an award, the app settles the winner — counting the votes, reading the sportsmanship ratings, or taking the name you picked — closes voting, and reveals it. It's a one-time call: once revealed, it stays put.
The award then leaves the season's Awards page, because it isn't something anyone can win any more. It turns up instead as a trophy on the winner's profile — theirs to keep — and as an engraved relic in the season's yearbook, the permanent record of who won what that season.
Setting them up
- Open a season under Organize → Competition and find the Awards section.
- First time through, hit Set up default awards to seed Best Sportsman and Best Painted.
- Add your own with a name, a kind — a player vote or an organizer pick — and a description saying how it's won.
- For voted awards, open voting when you want the league weighing in, and close it when you're done.
- Finalize each award to reveal its winner.
There's no Awards tab to hunt for: when you open a vote, a Voting is open bar appears under the season nav for every player who still has a vote to cast, and disappears once they've cast it. What they've already won is in the trophy case on their profile.
